As a leading forestry research and education in Indonesia, our paradigm and developmental plan have inspired and been matched with the rapid change in the global perspective on how the tropical forest ecosystems should be managed. 

The research and education we offer are very diverse in term of interest but very unique in term of the areas and the approaches. We are supported by more than 100 academic staff, large proportion of them have graduated from many distinguished education institutes overseas.  Being part of a research university, we are supported with fine facilities (laboratories & field equipments, 4 field campuses and computer network) and strong linkage with many research institutes, forestry stakeholders and funding partners in domestic as well in international. Currently we manage about 30 PhD students and more than 75 master students.

Our Faculty has long experience in rehabilitation of degraded forests, especially through employing tree improvement techniques, enhancing sustained productivity as well as in empowerment of local peoples by sustaining their livelihood and encourage their participation in preserving our forests. Our diverse expertise (supported by more than 23 laboratories/specialization) has allowed us to use more integrated approaches, essentially required in tackling complicated problems, typically found in tropical forestry.
