Wanagama I (Gunung Kidul)

This education forest is located about 40 km to the south of Yogyakarta city. This the national pilot project which demonstrate successful strategy for bareland rehabilitation and semi-arid silviculture. With about 600 Ha areas, this education forest has been pioneered in genetic trials and tree improvements in Indonesia. This successful experience in reforesting previously bareland into forested areas has spin-off effect  to transforming the bareland areas spread-over in across Gunung Kidul region into now known as centre for community forests and teak production areas in Java.

The forest is equipped with student dormitory and classroom facilities that could accomodate more than 200 students and provide excellent plots to demonstrate and to learn rehabilitation techniques including the spirit required.

Located in Jambi, Sumatera, surrounded by secondary tropical rainforest previously logged-over areas, totally about 10,000 hectares. The adjacent areas are occupied by rubber, palm-oil plantations and agricultural practices. The Faculty has joined with Japan institute to established long-term observation plots in order to investigate ecology and rehabilitation techniques for secondary tropical forests, emphasize on dipterocarp. Many experiments on planting techniques was established in 1990s. The field campus could accommodate about 70 students.
